Anchor in any storm

Many are reaching the limit of their knowing what to do in these strange and extreme times, so this month I am focusing on a few pointers to keep you afloat and on course for the shore through any storm. I highly recommending writing up your top 10 anchors, keeping them somewhere handy and actually looking at them (!) - I find even just rereading them fortifies me - and then make art related to each part to be further nourished.

1. Not knowing what to do doesn't mean you're lacking something or stupid, either, and the addiction to manifesting dramatic shifts for all to see and applaud can leave us overlooking the practical small steps that are possible today – so stay specific and get some tiny tasks done that are right in front of you.

2. It's tempting also to make this not knowing a problem and wrong yourself and it. But there will always be the unknowable in our lives – so let's rather focus on continuing to grow in discernment to respond to the known, knowable and unknown – each 1 appropriately.

3. This is also where your yoga lifestyle will help because it is probable that there may be nothing else to do besides carry on each day in the wisest manner you know how – fill your time with uplifting habits so you're not busy with those that don't serve you.

4. Equally, you may feel pushed to take action – and fast – but remember you're a human being, not a doing - less is more, especially when the doing could simply be reactive and be of no long-term service to you or anyone. It's a reminder once again to stop consciously. Anchor into who you are right now even if your mind can't work out what that is.

5. Expand belly on the Sat, contract Nabhi up and in on the Naam. Maintain your focus at your heart centre – always.

6. A quiet word with Guru Ram Das will always grace you. You could also gift yourself a radical change of attitude and feel the situation to be instead just the opportunity you wanted just shaped a little (or a lot) different.

7. And you know that when the stress rises it can be tempting to lose one’s manners and then regret it later. Stay polite to yourself and others.

8. And use your energy wisely.Replenish your stores of prana with some walks in nature... regularly.

9. And then remember to forgive yourself for reaching your limit of knowing. Stay gently persistent with finding a way through without adding unnecessary pressure to an already potentially pressured environment. It's not just you...so when you do find a way, you can share a word or 2 to others in a similar situation. May that be an encouragement.

10. And both finally and first of all - you are 1 of God's creatures. A living treasure.

11. So never hesitate to insist on feeling the blessing of this in yourself and share blessings with anyone who crosses your path.

12. Then stay in trust and faith that this practice works, because it does - and repeat it.
